Did you know that 95% of serotonin is produced in your gastrointestinal tract?  Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps regulate sleep and appetite, mediate moods, and inhibit pain.  We truly are what we eat.  Food is fuel for our bodies and minds.  Your brain requires a constant supply of fuel, which comes from the foods you eat.  What you eat directly affects the structure and function of your brain and, ultimately, your mood.  Food is one of the most powerful tools for changing brain chemistry.  What we put into our bodies has a huge impact on both our mental and physical health.  At Mind Body Knox we will be offering Food and Mood as well as hands on cooking workshops to educate and equip our community members to prepare nutritious meals at home.
